Myth # 1
The odds of my child getting an athletic scholarship are slim to none.
The facts
While it’s true that full Division 1 scholarships are rare, hundreds of smaller colleges are able to offer full or partial scholarships. financial aid and admissions help to their top recruiting targets.
Myth # 2
If my child is good enough, colleges will find him.
The facts
With tight recruiting budgets, most coaches can only afford to attend large events where hundreds of athletes are all vying for attention. It is important that you have the tools at your disposal that will make your child stand out from the crowd.
Myth # 3
It’s the coach’s job to send out highlight films and otherwise keep colleges interested in my daughter.
The facts
Many do. But these days many coaches have their hands full running year-round programs. let alone following up with every recruiter interested in a player. Increasingly, the athletes and their parents must take charge.
